Handle all the content (text & images) in your website's pages

For a live & vibrant website, regularly adding content is a necessity. In many cases, the businesses grow constantly. And more things happen in a business. Reflecting the changes & happenings in your business at your website is a good idea.
You might need to add latest news & developments. For this, a change in website's layout or design is often not required. A mere addition of a few pages, and reflecting them on the site's menu navigation, will be sufficient. Just for adding typed content (which is already generated by you or your staff), you don't have to call & follow-up your web designer. That's were the Content management system can help. Popularly known as CMS.
Ease of use
If you can type a page with appropriate headings on a word document, chances are, you can handle the same on a CMS. You can add a page of text (and properly headings) and specify a link for the menu.
You can also make it to appear on the home page so that the home page will also display latest content. You can edit any of the existing content & tweak it.
What are the choices?
Many open source CMS software exist on the net for more than 5 years. And in the process have matured elegantly. Here is a list of full-fledged CMSes, in my preferred order.
- Drupal
- PostNuke
- PHP Nuke
- Text Pattern
- XOOPS
